Eckenstein-Geigy Professorship and Research Center for Pediatric Pharmacology at the University of Basel and the University Children's Hospital of Basel.
Promoting university basic research through philanthropic support.
"Supporting university-based research is a step towards important basic research or pushing for system change; this requires a long-term, but also analytical approach. We know that market-based nudging of such initiatives is sometimes hard to implement, so it needs generous philanthropic support." (Gabriel)
By funding the professorship and the new research center, the Eckenstein-Geigy Foundation promotes the research and development of medicines for newborns, infants, toddlers, and adolescents. For optimal and individualized use in children, medications are tested even more precisely for their efficacy and safety and put into a child-friendly dosage form.
Improved medical care for children thanks to optimized dosage forms and age-appropriate drug dosing.
